Born in 1932 in Hull, Quebec, André Boulet graduated from the Institute of Technology of Hull (1952). A self taught artist, he experimented with drawing and painting. Since 1987, he has worked exclusively with sculpture, stone and bronze.

André Boulet has participated in more than forty group and solo exhibitions and was awarded several prizes and honourable mentions. His works are found in corporate and private collections in Canada, the United States, Germany, Monaco and Japan.

«At the beginning, I was sculpting stone, but this material was not allowing me to realize more detailed works; sculptures that would be more slender and stylized. This is why bronze soon became my favorite medium.

Without any doubt, the whole corpus of my work talks particularly of string instruments from the violin family. The beauty of their feminine and harmonious lines is a continuous source of inspiration for me. I form and deform the instruments in order to give each one of them their own personality; I would like them to be alive; I want to give the musical world a human shape a little bit like a player would do.»
