‘‘Although hyperrealistic, Yvette Froment’s work does not correspond to the traditional and North American definition of the term which relates to a detached and cold observation of daily reality. Froment’s paintings are the opposite of a rigorous objectivity, devoid of any emotion. If it is tempting to categorize her work as an entity submitted to photography’s rhetoric, this would only dissolve the iconographic importance of the artist’s scenes and it would be underestimating the composition that structures each one of them. Yvette Froment’s images are indeed the result of a candid look of reality, the one experienced by the artist and altered to follow her imagination.

Native of a rural milieu, Yvette Froment has always stayed close to nature. Concerned about the environment and ecology, she expresses her love of life through the use of patterns inspired by the macrocosm (…). On the structural plan, the compositions are mostly traditional (…). Yvette Froment plays with the viewer on different levels (…). The artist forces one to engage himself in a viewing that involves his comprehension of the world and the one he develops facing the phenomenon of the art work.’’
