Born in Lodz Poland, and a Canadian citizen, Esther Wertheimer lives and creates in Montreal, Quebec, in Boca Raton, Florida and in Pietrasanta, Italy. She is a prominent artist active on the international scene and has won prizes at exhibitions throughout the world. Her sculptures are part of important collections such as: Joliette Fine Arts Museum in Quebec as well as public sculptures in plazas, hotels and parks in major cities across Canada and the United States.

Her sculpture “Primavere” was selected by the Fukuoka municipal government to commemorate its 100th anniversary in 1992. Her other works in Japan were installed at the Symphony Hall in Katsushika-ki, Tokyo and at the Sports Centre in Hamura city.

Esther Wertheimer’s elegant and vibrant sculptures depict a strong sence of the joy of life and the pursuit of freedom. Her work appeals to art lovers and collectors throughout the world.

“Sculpture, perhaps the most homocentric of the arts, conveys the rhythms and the pulse of life, and invites viewers. I believe that people and their work are the total sum of their experiences. I am no exception to this rule. My life involvement with first dance, music and ballet, and as an artist, sculptor, and recorder of human responses provides rich sources of inspiration. I show people at their peak of creativity and vitality – with lightness, grace, balance, control, straining, reaching, out-thrusting, sweeping movement – capturing the elevation of the human spirit, the beauty of the human form. People. My sculpture always depict people – dancers, athletes, lovers, men and women, family – symbols of new beginnings and caring relationships. That, I believe, is what sculpture is all about.”
